Chapter 85 has been named the recipient of the Best Frequency Coordination Effort – Dennis Orcutt for the 2007 SBE Awards Program.

Dennis is one of the founding members of SBE Chapter 85 since its inception in the early 1980s and he has served as Frequency Coordinator for our district since 1984 in addition to holding the office of Chapter Chair five times during the late 80s and 90s.


Dennis has been a radio engineer since he joined 104.1 KMGL (formerly KOFM) in November of 1975. During his career, Mr. Orcutt has built multiple radio studios and transmitter sites for Renda Broadcasting and Guy Gannett Broadcasting. Dennis has also worked as a contract engineer for years in the 80’s DBA Dennis Orcutt Broadcast Services.

The past year’s coordination efforts have been with Sooner Sports when collegiate sport networks (ABC, ESPN and FOX) came to Norman, Oklahoma. Dennis also coordinated with ABC ESPN and FOX for OSU sports in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Dennis has also cleared and monitored the actions of Wayne Walker from Republic AERO, Inc the sub contractor and test director for OSU University Multispectral Laboratory Ponca City, OK, in their high power test transmissions (that are currently being conducted in Oklahoma).
Dennis has frequency coordinated closely with Judy Rice of CP communications for the Women’s softball World Series in North East Oklahoma City.
Dennis has demonstrated his generosity, donated his time and personal equipment toward the benefit of others.
When hurricane Katrina struck, Dennis packed his truck with radio equipment and headed to Mississippi to assist the American Red Cross in the rescue process.
His efforts in Mississippi earned him a prestigious award from the ARRL
(Amateur Radio Relay League) for exceptional service during the Katrina Hurricane disaster.
Dennis is an awesome and unassuming individual. Dennis enjoys a great reputation in this market for both his unwavering conduct and exceptional skills.
He is truly deserved of this great honor.
