Hello Members and Friends of SBE 85.
We wish to take this time to honor the great Steve Schott, a very dear friend and supporter of SBE Chapter 85.
Steve passed away May 28, 2009.

Steve began his broadcast career as a Chief Engineer in a small station in Rocky Ford, Colorado on April 1st, 1966. Steve held positions as both a DOE (Director of Engineering) and Chief Engineer in three major markets. He originally began his formal education by pursuing a Fine Arts degree from Drake University. However, engineering was in his blood.

He then gained his associate degree from the Devry Institute. Steve also was mentored by the great Gordon McClendon and also worked at KLIF-AM in Dallas. The former KLIF is legendary in the radio world. Steve then continued his career as a District sales manager for Collins/Continental for 16 years, Harris Broadcast for 9 years and Broadcast Electronics for 3 years. When asked if his company would be interested in supporting SBE Chapter 85 with a Sustaining Membership, Steve was lightning quick in his response and support. Steve was particularly well known in our market and enjoyed an excellent reputation of competence, integrity and character. Please keep Steve's family and our fellow SBE brother in your prayers during this painful time. The Schott family will be having a small memorial service at 2PM on Sunday June 7th at their house in Glen Rose, TX. Steve's obituary will be in the Dallas Morning News and on-line. You can leave a memorial message and your condolences should you desire. For those of you wishing to send flowers, please make a donation instead to the Texas Ole English Sheepdog Rescue service. Steve had a real passion for Old English Sheepdogs. Steve was the current president of TxOESR.
